Federal Skilled Worker Program

To be eligible for the FSTP, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

Work experience: You must have at least two years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time experience) in a skilled trade within the last five years. The work experience must be in a National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill level B occupation.

Language proficiency: You must demonstrate proficiency in English or French by taking an approved language test and achieving minimum scores in each language skill (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).

Education: You must have a Canadian high school diploma or an educational credential equivalent to a Canadian diploma or degree, or a certificate of qualification in your skilled trade issued by a Canadian province or territory.

Job offer: You must have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer for at least one year or a certificate of qualification in your skilled trade issued by a Canadian province or territory.

Admissibility: You must meet the admissibility requirements for Canada, such as having no criminal record and passing a medical exam.

Once you meet the minimum requirements, you will be assigned a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on factors such as age, education, language proficiency, work experience, and other factors. Candidates with the highest CRS scores are typically invited to apply for permanent residence through regular Express Entry draws.
